In understanding the human figure, the underlying forms of the the rib cage and pelvis can be the hardest the visualize as simple, 3-dimensional forms. This torso model is a simplified "mannequin” meant to help one visualize these major forms and their relationships to each other. This includes the head, rib cage, pelvis, and shoulder girdle (scapula and clavicle). In designing this model I wanted to create something that you can touch and hold to make these abstract visualizations more tangible.
Along with the major rigid forms, the spine and shoulder girdle are made out of a flexible material which allows these mannequins to help visualize the same kinds of bends and twists you'll see on the actual figure. The head and shoulder girdle are also detachable and snap into place. The torso is about 6 Inches high (7 inches with stand).
This model includes everything pre-assembled along with a display stand. The head, rib cage, pelvis, and base are 3d printed out of durable PLA plastic while the spine and shoulder girdle are printed in a flexible TPU material. NOTE: While durable, PLA and TPU are heat sensitive. Avoid leaving in or near high-heat sources like a hot car, heater, or fireplace. The plastic can warp.
